A Coyote?

Ty was mowing the lawn this morning, when he ran in the back door and said, "A coyote just ran through our backyard!" We all look at him very sceptically. "Are you sure it wasn't a fox?" I asked (we have seen foxes in our neighborhood before). Brett, looking the most doubtful, says, "Or a canine?" Noone else actually saw the creature, so what do you think it was?
