Pet Peeve of the Week
I heard one of my boys say,"OMG," the other day. Now, I know when he said it he meant, "Oh, my gosh," but that is not what I thought when I heard it and I am sure it is not what most people think when they hear it. So, I just don't like it and encouraged him, strongly, to not say it anymore.

Lazy summer days
We are being lazy. We haven't gone anywhere or done anything for days, just hanging out at home. Afternoon thunderstorms make me feel less guilty about it. If it is raining isn't that permission to curl up and read a good book? Now if I can just get the kids to do some summer reading.

Crazy Eights!
My cousin invited me to share these "crazy eights".
Eight things I have a passion for:
1. My Family: this could be my only answer for this section because I love them so much and I am so greatful for them, but I will add someother things I really like.
2. Being a Mom: No, this is not the same as family, this is teaching, helping, encouraging my kids to be great, better than me, etc.
3. Creating: I love scrapbooking, cuting, gluing, writing...
4. Reading: I have a hard time putting down a good book for anything.
5. Education: I am so glad for my education and that my kids know the importance of learning.
6. Playing games: Love to play with the family, kids, or by myself. Especially, word games.
7. Chocolate: Must have just a little!
8. Rollercoasters: Even though I complain sometimes, I really love them and am so excited to ride a few new ones with Ty, Paige, and even Brett soon.
Eight things I want to do before I die:
1. See my kids grow to have good, happy, productive lives.
2. Spoil my grandkids.
3. Retire somewhere beautiful, with Dave, where the kids and grandkids will love to come visit (not sure where this is yet).
4. Write a children's storybook.
5. Learn to be a good photographer.
6. Visit Italy and Ireland.
7. Eat healthier and enjoy it.
8. Just live life to the fullest.
Eight things I say alot:
1. Get off the computer.
2. Help Brett get buckled.
3. Get dressed.
4. Brush your teeth.
5. How was school today?
6. Flush the toilet!
7. Did you do your chores yet?
8. I love you.

Pet Peeve of the Week
I hate it when news anchors, reporters, etc. say "Get this". Don't know why, but it really bothers me. There has to be another more original way to get my attention. I should apologize for bringing this up, because now you will notice how often it is said too!

Pet Project

Paige is always wanting to make something, do a craft, scrapbook, etc. So today we did a project we found at Family Fun. Paige decided she wanted to make a "purse" for each of the webkinz. So, we spent a fun afternoon cutting and glueing. She is also taking a fun arts and crafts class this week. She made a cute windchime with bells and shells and beads. She also made a plaque for daddy and is working on a couple of other projects. She is quite a crafty girl.

Brett quote of the day
Brett just creeped out of bed to come tell me: "Today was the best day of my life because we went to the tennis courts. And the best part was getting points off of daddy."
So, I guess our pathetic little family home evening game of tennis was all worth it!

One in a Million

I knew my name was pretty common, but this proves it. It is nothing compared to Dave. He is one of 11,207. Bryce is one of 76, Ty is one of 52, but if you make it Tyler he is one of 430, Paige is one of 90 and Brett one of 393. I have known at least two people with my name (before it was my married name). So, we are not original, but pretty popular!

Frustrated!

This morning Bryce had an orthodontist appointment after which we headed to the mall for the "Summer Movie". We arrived only to find a line a mile long of day care kids. Three buses full. Needless to say the movie was not only full, but over sold by over 50 seats. Luckily, I am a pretty calm, go with the flow type person, unlike some of the mothers ahead of me. So, we piled back in the van and ate our candy all the way home. Disappointed and hyped up on sugar the kids are now playing video games, unfortunately.
My New Lawn Mower

No, we didn't buy a new fancy mower or even getting the riding mower fixed. Why should we? We have a twelve year old! Bryce mowed the yard by himself for the first time. It took him 1 morning and 2 evenings to get it done, (it is way too hot to mow in the heat of the day) but he did it and didn't even complain. He is well on his way to paying for scout camp!
