Field Trips and Science Fair

We have been so busy lately with the kids activities. I have been on field trips with Brett and Paige. With Brett, we went to see the play "Miss Bindergarten gets ready for Kindergarten" and then we played at the children's museum.
The same day as Brett's field trip, Paige had a service field tip. Her class help out with the Children's Miracle Network Radiothon. Yesterday, I went with Paige on another field trip to a science museum. It was a LONG, but fun day.
Bryce and Ty had their science fair this week. They won 3rd place for their steam recovery system project.

Not feeling so appreciated

Last night Dave went to a "Primary Teacher Appreciation" dinner. He was not very happy when he got home. He said the entertainment was good (One of the performances was Ty playing his sax with some friends). But, he didn't like the dinner. He also felt like he was crashing a Relief Society activity. He gave two friends a ride home from the activity and before he got anyone home....got pulled over for speeding! We had been talking about how many people we have seen get pulled over in our neighborhood lately. We also discovered this week that his registration was expired. But, of course had no proof that we had actually renewed it. It has been many, many years since he got a ticket and he is usually pretty careful about it. More careful than I am (I have never gotten a ticket). Now, the kids have a four day weekend for Mardi Gras, but Dave has to work all weekend. So, I guess the kids and I should do something to show him that we appreciate what a great husband and dad he is. Just this week I am appreciating that he is helping the boys with their science fair project and doing our taxes (both things I hate)!

What good examples I have

Last night I was so ready for the kids to go to bed. They had been difficult all afternoon. At bed time Paige started complaining about her stomach. She asked for medicine. I, impatiently, told her I didn't have any and she should say her prayers and go to sleep. I shut the door and went to see what another kid, frustratingly, was calling me for. Then, Paige called me back again, I opened her door and said, "WHAT!" She told me that she said her prayers and her stomach was already starting to feel better. I took a deep breath and told her I was glad.
An hour later, I went to check on Bryce, who reads in bed and loses track of time. I noticed the book he is currently reading was on the couch. So, I was a little surprised to find him reading in his room. He was reading his scriptures. What good examples to me on such a stressful day.

Brett quote of the day

Today we were filling out a poster for Brett to take to school. He is going to be the student of the week. One question said, "When I grow up I want to be..." Brett kept asking what job made the most money. Dave said, " Do you want to be Bill Gates?" Brett said, "Sure I'll build gates!"

What Brett thinks of his Dad

Brett brought home a paper this week all about his dad. Here is what it said:

My dad is the greatest! He's as strong as a rock. His favorite food is salad. He's as handsome as a rainbow. My dad is so smart. He even knows how to fix stuff. My dad and I like to fish together.

My little rock star

This is not the greatest video. Brett is not very loud and Bryce is banging away on the drums in the background, but still pretty cute.

Why must they play with my camera?

Just a sampling of what I found this time!
