Brett quote of the day

"I want a pool party when I turn 6."

"Brett it is too cold on your birthday for a pool party."

"Then when I turn 7?"

Smart Girl

A conversation with Paige:

"I have to tell you something that happened at school today."

"Okay."

" Today Ms. Wright wrote 2 fractions on the board 1/2 and 2/4. She said raise your hand if you think they are equivalent and then raise your hand if you think they are not. I was the only one who got it right."

"Were you nervous that you were the only one raising your hand?"

"Yes, but I knew it was right. I earned 2 compliments."

Science Fair

Whew, what an exhausting weekend. Saturday, was the Region Science Fair. Bryce and Ty both had project in the Fair and Dave was one on the judges. The boys all left early to set up their displays. Then we picked up Bryce and Ty while Dave went about his judging duties. We all got some breakfast and then took the boys back for judges interviews. Which lasts 2 HOURS.

During that time I took Paige and Brett to the Primary Family Olympics. We didn't do too well with out the big boys. Paige hurt her toes in the bunny hop and I got spun around by the tug-of war rope. It wasn't the same with out the whole family. But, we had fun and enjoyed the Easter egg hunt.

Then we headed back to the science fair. Ty was suffering from an ear ache. So, I took the kids home and Dave made a trip to Home Depot. We had a couple of hours at home before we headed back for the awards ceremony. Ty got a special award from the Air Force for his project and an Honorable Mention. Bryce got a special award from the Navy and 3rd place. Both boys were competing in the engineering division (Elementary & Junior) with projects too complicated to put here. They were both okay with the awards but had hoped for better. We assured them they did great.

The week leading up to this was at least pretty laid back. The kids had testing week at school. Which is not as stressful as it sounds. They spend some time each morning testing and then watch movies, play games, long recess, ect. the rest of the day. And NO HOMEWORK all week.

So, we are done with another year of science fair! Next year Paige will be able to participate too. I'm not sure I can handle 3 projects. Maybe we can talk the boys into a team project!

Goofball

It is not very often that Bryce acts silly and even more unusual for him to get caught at it and even allow his picture to be taken. Here he is wearing Brett's space helmet and jet pack. He was jumping around off the furniture and flying through the house. Very funny.

I love it when Bryce comes out of his own little world and plays with Brett. He is a good big brother!

He will not be thrilled that I have posted this for all to see, so make sure you all give him a hard time. It will be good for him!

Out of Control

Call me crazy, but I thought the idea of combining a baby shower with play group this week would work out fine. We have done it before, but not at my house. I really don't mind having playgroup at my house. I know every toy will be brought out and someone will spill and I am fine with that, but today----wow!!! Remember there is a baby shower going on during the following:

2 spilled cups of sprite
1 big bump on the head
4 kids screaming "Chicken Pie" (????) over and over
1 boy missed the potty
2 bedroom floors covered in toys
5 fingers in the cheese ball
1 bucket of M&M's dumped all over the kitchen
1 bed thrown up on
7 kids sitting at the little tikes table eating off each others plates
1 pair of shoes left behind
8 kids climbing up and down from Brett's bed
1 loud toy firetruck
1 boy trying to rollerblade in the kitchen
1 complaint "They're being mean to me" (could it really only be one complaint?)
and believe it or not 2 babies sleeping

And that's just what I came up with off the top of my head!

I think there were games played and gifts opened at some point. I only hope it seemed wilder to me than everyone else. Believe it or not I look forward to my next turn at hosting playgroup, because it will be my last before Summer begins and Brett is off to Kindergarten in the fall. But, this playgroup was one to remember and look back and laugh. I can just image the story Heather will have to tell about her baby shower!

Big Boy!

Brett celebrated his birthday this weekend. He was so excited to have friends come to his party this year. He wanted a "Star Wars" party. But, he refused the cool rocket cake that I made for Bryce when he was younger. So daddy decorated the cake! We decorated paper plate flying saucers and launched film canister/alkaseltzer rockets. Brett loved most of his gifts especially the new Star Wars guys. Curiously, he liked the Webkinz raccoon his friend Lily gave him, but hates the very cute Build-a-Bear turtle that I gave him. He even wanted to hide it when his friends came. So hard to please! But, such a sweet boy. He likes to tell me that I am his favorite person in the family. But, this weekend he warned me that when he is a teenager, daddy will be his favorite, but he will still like me! Whew! Well, It is time to go pick up the big boy at school!
