Cousins
One of the things the kids most look forward to on vacation is spending time with their cousins. I wasn't the best about getting pictures with the cousins but they had lots of fun together. They played miniture golf and went to the nickle arcade. We watched fireworks on a chilly and windy evening. We went swimming one day and to the water park another. We went to see "The Last Airbender" with the boy cousins. The kids had fun visiting their cousins homes and just playing and hanging out.

Brett quote of the day
While showing his tongue after eating a red snowcone:
"It looks like I was tanning it for 72 hours."
"Why 72 hours?"
"24 or 48 didn't seem like enough!"

Brett quote of the day
Paige: "Savannah and I were born exactly 4 months apart."
Brett: "That is exactly 2/3 of 1/2 a year."
(the boy loves fractions :)

Brett quote of the day
While watching Spongebob...
"They said it was all in his 'jeans', but Squidward doesn't even wear pants!"
While ordering pizza online...
"When you do 'build your own pizza'...is that the pizza you get?"

Our Chef
Ty is the most helpful kid in our family. His favorite thing to help with is the cooking. When I am cooking he often offers to help or even take over. He loves to make scrambled eggs but doesn't have a problem with making a whole meal for the family. On a recent Sunday afternoon when I hadn't really planned to cook anything he took over the kitchen and fed us all. He is an awesome kid!Thursday, June 3, 2010

Warning: Bragging to follow...
For grandmas...all others may scroll past my bragging (I don't want you to be jealous of my awesome kids!)
End of year awards ceremonies brought lots of certificates and awards to our kids. It is nice to see their excitement at being recognized for their achievements.
Ty received the Bronco award for being a good student and good example to his classmates. He also received awards for his superior rating on a band ensemble and for making the district honor band.
Bryce received the outstanding band member award for 8th grade band, a quiz bowl award (he was captain of the winning team!), A superior rating on his band solo, a reading award, an award for his LEAP test scores, and the President's Award for Educational Excellence.
Paige's teacher did classroom awards where she received the "Little Miss Talkative" award along with awards for maintaining a 4.0 in reading, science, social studies, spelling, math and language and an award for good conduct. At the 5th grade awards program she got awards for Banner Roll (all A's all year) and 3rd place in the science fair. She also received the President's award for educational excellence.
