Bragging on Ty

Ty is not my oldest, not the youngest, not the only girl. He might not get the best grades or have advanced classes or be the most athletic. And he may not always receive the praise he deserves. Ty is the BEST helper, he is the planner and organizer, he does what is right even if it is not popular. Ty is funny and playful and social.

Ty has not loved middle school this year, but he does love band! He plays the saxophone and practices alot. This year Ty spent time as first chair, got a superior on his solo and tried out for symphonic band. Ty was very suprised to win one of four (two girls, two boys) awards for "Outstanding Band Member". He was also the only 6th grade saxophone player to be selected for Symphonic Band. Hooray for Ty!!!

fyi: Bryce also tried out for symphonic band and did not make it. He is fine with it. He was disappointed, but will enjoy being one of the best in 8th grade band. He likes band, but not the way Ty does and we all agree it is good for Ty to have something he is better at than Bryce! Ty's good friend Tristan was the other boy selected as Outstanding Band Member.

Brett's Field Day

After watching the big kids at field day Brett was excited to finally get to participate himself. His class was excited to win the first obstacle course race. Brett running to his teacher.
Brett and his buddies!

Pass that sponge.

Dripping wet!

Paige's field day

One of the things that assures my kids that school is coming to a close is field day. The classses of each grade compete against each other in fun games and races and in the end...the best part...everyone gets wet! Paige and her friends are excited to get started.
Hop fast Paige!

Sprinkler limbo!

Brett quote of the day

And apparently my 200th post!

"I hate the girls bathroom!"
"Why?"
"Because there is always toilet paper on the floor."

He also read the dispenser and was curious about the "napkins".

Double Digits

Paige is 10! I can't believe how fast she is growing up. She had a few friends spend the night and they had a lot of fun!. They played a prank on her brothers...
They decorated cupcakes, ate lots of pizza, chips and popcorn...

They decorated pillowcases and wooden letters of their first inital...

And they laughed, and giggled and talked and actually slept a little!

"Wild" Band Concert

The boys had their spring concert recently. They have both really enjoyed band this year. Ty says it is the best thing about middle school. Highlights of the concerts included Bryce and the 7th grade band playing "Sponge Bob Squarepants" and Ty's 6th grade band playing "Born to be Wild." They both tried out for Symphonic Band last week and will soon find out if they made it.

Overheard from the backseat

Paige: "Is this a picture of a monkey?"

Brett: "No, it's my self-portrait."
